Witnesses saw a car speed past, and someone in the car fired five shots from an automatic weapon.

The pensioner is believed to have been hit by a stray bullet after asking her neighbours to turn down the music.

One resident told The Sun: “I heard five or six loud bangs they just sounded like fireworks, but then there was lots of screaming.

“All hell broke loose, there were people running in every direction.

“I saw one man run around the block and get into his car, his hand was bleeding and I think he had been shot.

Another said: “Suddenly we heard about six big bangs, but if it was fireworks that went off then you expect to hear a whoosh after and there wasn’t any.

“And then we heard a car screeching out, and we ran out, and everyone was screaming, and there was a woman on the floor, she was screaming.

“Some people were trying to help her, she was bleeding a lot, she was laying on the floor by the ping pong table.

“Then all the other cars started screeching and speeding out too.”

The 73-year-old woman is believed to have come out to tell party-goers to stop and quieten down from her balcony, and got caught in the crossfire.

A friend said: “She would have only come out to tell them to stop making such a racket, and tell them to stop.

“I think she was just there when it all happened, she would have come down from her flat, but she’s not young, we’re just worried about her, we’ve not heard anything since last night.”

A resident told MyLondon that a “girl got shot in the back”.

Another said: “I saw someone walking from my balcony saying I’ve just been shot.

“I’ve been in London 14 years and you don’t see these things every day.”

Firearms officers and paramedics attended the scene.

Two women were taken to hospital and a woman and a man later took himself to A&E for treatment, all with suspected gunshot wounds.

The shooting is not being treated as terror-related.

DS Val John-Baptiste, of Specialist Crime North, said: “I need to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious in and around Clarence Gardens, NW1.
