Sadly she couldn’t be saved and was declared dead at the scene.

Police are urgently hunting her husband Mark Barrott, 54, who has been on-the-run now for more than 37 hours.

They today released a picture of nurse Eileen smiling at the camera and confirmed Mark was being treated as a “suspect”.

Officers yesterday released CCTV images of Mark leaving Leeds railway station for Scotland by train at 1pm on Sunday.

He arrived at Edinburgh Waverley station at 4pm – two hours before Eileen’s body was found.

It has now emerged Mark caught a train to Aberdeen and was last seen on CCTV in Huntly Street in the city centre at 9.16pm that night.

Cops are now trying to track Mark down and his car – a silver Toyota Avensis, registration FJ51 ZHB – which is still believed to be in Leeds.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Vanessa Rolfe said: “We are continuing to carry out extensive enquiries to locate Mark Barrott as a suspect for his wife Eileen’s murder.

“We are liaising closely with our colleagues from Police Scotland who have established the most recent sighting of Mr Barrott on CCTV in Aberdeen city centre on Sunday night.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who has seen him since then or who has any information that could assist in tracing him.

“We continue to advise anyone who does see him not to approach him but to contact police immediately on 999.

“Eileen’s family have been left completely devastated at her death in these circumstances and we are doing everything we can to support them as we progress the investigation.”

Tributes earlier flooded in for Eileen, who is understood to have worked as a nurse at St James’ Hospital.

Pals also claim the mum-of-two worked all hours to escape Mark.

One said: “Rest in peace my dear colleague. What an amazing nurse. God bless your soul”.

Another wrote: “Poor Eileen she was a lovely person inside and out.

“So so sad, she didn’t deserve this. God bless her. RIP.

“Eileen you will be missed and thoughts to her family and children”.

While a neighbour said: “She was a nurse all those years, it’s so sad. She was such a hard worker, always going out working hard.

“They are two lovely children as well…They were a normal family, a lovely family.”

Anyone with information is must call West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team via 101 quoting Operation Pumacastle, reference 13210413554.
