TREVOH CHALOBAH is set to start for Chelsea against Arsenal this weekend – but could yet be sent out on loan, according to reports.
The Blues academy product, 22, has started both of his side’s competitive fixtures this season – the Super Cup penalty shootout win over Villarreal and 3-0 Premier League drubbing of Crystal Palace.
Chalobah was given the nod ahead of Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma at Stamford Bridge, even getting on the scoresheet in the second-half.
Thomas Tuchel is believed to be impressed with the youngster’s start to the season.
The German is even considering starting him for Sunday’s London derby against Arsenal.
However, with Chelsea keen on signing Sevilla star Jules Kounde, Chalobah could quickly slip down the pecking order.
And rather than see his progression stall, the Blues could send him out on loan for the season, say the Guardian.
Chalobah has just one year left to run on his current contract.

But after his strong start to the season, Chelsea are unlikely to let him leave on a free next summer.
Should they loan him out, they’re likely to offer him a new contract before he leaves to tie him down to the club ready for another crack at first-team football next season.
Chalobah was making his Premier League debut during Saturday’s win over the Eagles and scored his first first goal for the club – sinking to his knees in an emotional celebration after unleashing his unstoppable effort.
The defender, younger brother of ex-Chelsea star Nathaniel, was mobbed by his team-mates after the superb strike – having spent the last three seasons away from the club on loan.
Chalobah spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Ipswich, making 42 Championship appearances for the Tractor Boys as they were relegated to League One..
He then spent another season in the second tier, playing 36 league games for Huddersfield in a Covid-hit term.
Chalobah’s third loan spell was at Ligue 1 side Lorient, featuring 30 times in all competitions as the French side finished 16th.
