The heating engineer was on holiday with his wife Natalie and young son Blake.

It is believed he slipped and fell from a balcony, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

Now his family are fundraising to bring his body home to Hurst Green, near Blackburn.

Widow Natalie said after arriving back in the UK today: “He was a joker and was always laughing.

“He always wanted a son and he adored Blake.

“We had so many plans for the future together and so many plans to see his little boy grow up. It’s still very raw.”

A GoFundMe page set up by friends raised £6,200 in 24 hours for repatriation and funeral expenses.

Close pal Paul Wolstencroft said: “Over the weekend we’ve all had the life changing news that Nathan sadly lost his life.

“I could sit here for days on end and type about Nathan – his willingness to help anyone, his hunger to succeed in life, the love for his family and friends.

“Everyone is absolutely devastated about his loss and he will never ever be replaced in our hearts.”

A second fundraising page set up by Natalie has raised a further £6,000 so far.

She wrote: “As Nathan’s wife I really feel the need to do this in my own words and so have set up this new page.

“If you don’t already know, this weekend we lost the most important person in our lives.

“For those who knew Nathan, he had huge personality.

“He was so much fun, he loved life and was known to do silly things and do crazy stunts. Tragically, on this occasion, it has taken his life.

“This was a moment of madness that resulted in a tragic accident.

“Nathan did not want to leave any of us behind but we are now without him.”

Natalie said Nathan – also stepdad to Shay 15, and Jake 17 – was a retro trainer fan with a huge collection of Adidas shoes.

She added: “The money from both Paul’s and my fundraiser will be put together and will go towards bringing Nathan home.

“The fact so many people have pulled together to help his family is incredible and it’s amazing how people have come together to support us.

“Not one message of support has gone unnoticed or unread, and I will keep reading them as they come in.”

Pals also paid tribute on Facebook.

Joe Szejner said: “How is it I was talking to you yesterday, and now I’m writing this?!

“I’m utterly devastated and broken right now.

“I really don’t think anything written can truly represent what an absolute gent, a great father, a true friend and amazing person you were.

“You were a beacon of light in a dark world and it’s heartbreaking knowing you’re no longer here.”

Tom Marsh said: “Not often people make an instant/lasting impression on me but Nathan Aspin did.

“Such a warm, fun, smiley and positive lad. I always had time for him.

“His spouse Natalie is always someone we like to see and my heart is completely with her and their gorgeous little boy Blake.”
